Mass resignation hits CINTAA: Why eight members quit the Poonam Dhillon-led actors body

Eight members of CINTAA's executive committee have resigned from their positions, citing a loss of confidence in the association's functioning and a demand for fresh elections. The resignations come after the members alleged repeated breaches of collective decision-making, consultation, and constitutional governance. These claims include Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure taking unilateral decisions, issuing official communications through their personal IDs, and representing the association in public without the knowledge or approval of the executive committee.

Additionally, the resigning members accused the two leaders of visiting government offices with privately engaged lawyers, who were introduced as CINTAA lawyers without proper authorization. CINTAA General Secretary Upasana Singh confirmed that 11 members had resigned, with eight being elected executive committee members. The general secretary also raised concerns about the use of personal email accounts for official correspondence, stating that official communication should go through the association's official email system for transparency and record-keeping.

CINTAA's constitution stipulates that the executive committee can only be dissolved if more than 50% of the elected members resign, which is not the case in this situation.
