Nigeria: Can Prays for Kebbi Governor's Re-Election

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kebbi State has called upon the faithful to pray for the successful re-election of Governor Nasir Idris. The prayers were offered on Saturday night at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital. The state chairman of CAN, Bishop Ayuba Kanta Yafi, led the prayers, joined by members from the 21 local government areas of the state.

They sought the intervention of the Lord Jesus Christ to help Idris win a second term in office. Bishop Kanta expressed his gratitude to Idris for his support of the Christian community, including providing land and financial assistance during festive periods and completing CAN Secretariat projects. He also praised the work of the state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arc Sani Aliyu, in resolving religious disputes.

The bishop noted the significance of the Koko-Mahuta-Dabai road, which was completed during Kaura led administration, and called for continued collaboration between the government and religious organizations to maintain unity and harmony. Governor Nasir Idris acknowledged the prayers, stating that they came at a crucial time for politicians seeking election, and promised to maintain a positive relationship with religious groups.
