Netanyahu rejects Trump’s Gaza plan as White House downplays remarks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed US President Donald Trump's proposed Gaza plan, insisting Israeli forces will not withdraw until Hamas is fully disarmed. Washington, in its first official reaction, stated the administration is unconcerned with Netanyahu's remarks, viewing them as part of Israel's election season, according to Axios.

The US official added that while they understand Netanyahu's political needs, they do not object to his stance as long as he curtails attacks on Gaza. Following a phone conversation with Trump's envoy Jared Kushner, Netanyahu agreed to give the 15-point plan a chance and promised to limit attacks on Gaza until disarmament begins.

However, Israeli forces have not yet withdrawn to the "yellow line" and have not signed the plan, as the Israeli government continues to reject the US-backed approach. Despite disagreements over the roadmap, Netanyahu's office regularly updates Washington on violations linked to Hamas activities in Gaza. Meanwhile, Hamas has reaffirmed its commitment to the Peace Council's plan, urging the US and mediators to pressure Israel to implement its terms.
