Natasha’s teenage daughter builds orphanage home in Kogi community

Nadia Zakaria, the 16-year-old daughter of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has constructed, furnished, and presented an orphanage facility in Etahi Community, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State. The ground-breaking event took place on Sunday, greeted by celebrations from community members, religious leaders, children, and other well-wishers.

The orphanage, initiated by Nadia at the age of 15, was funded through donations from her family, friends, and the public. The newly built facility is now managed by the Oyiza-Salem Divine Orphanage Home, which lauded Nadia's project as a significant intervention that would ensure shelter, dignity, and a better environment for vulnerable children.

Nadia expressed her motivation for this project, stating that she aimed to provide opportunities for children who, despite lacking a fault of their own, have not experienced the same advantages she had. She emphasized that her project was made possible by the "incredible generosity" of her family, friends, and even strangers. Nadia also called upon young Nigerians to engage in humanitarian initiatives, irrespective of their age or financial capacity.

Senator Natasha, who did not contribute financially to the project, expressed pride in her daughter's initiative and commended young people for making meaningful contributions to society through compassion and determination.
