Mumbai Crime: 65-Year-Old Telangana Man Arrested For Allegedly Supplying Fake Amul Milk Pouches To Adulteration Racket

Mumbai, August 10, 2026 - The Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended a 65-year-old Telangana native, Ramulu Guruvaryya Bodupalli, on charges of supplying counterfeit milk pouches bearing brand names like Amul and Gokul to an illicit group involved in adulterating and selling milk. Identified by the Crime Branch, Bodupalli is alleged to have established a printing unit in Vasai East that churned out the fake Amul milk pouches.

Following a raid in Dahisar that uncovered a large haul of adulterated milk falsely labeled as Amul and Gokul, the Crime Branch traced Bodupalli to Telangana, where he was apprehended. According to investigators, Bodupalli allegedly sold the counterfeit packaging to milk adulteration syndicates for Rs 2.50 per pouch. The preliminary probe suggests he supplied around 30,000 to 50,000 fake pouches monthly between 2021 and July 2026.

Police seized printing equipment estimated to be worth Rs 10 lakh from the Vasai East facility, which they claim was used to manufacture the deceptive milk pouches. The investigation is ongoing to identify other milk adulterators who procured the fake pouches from Bodupalli and to uncover the broader network involved in the racket. The case is being probed by DCP (D-1) Navnath Dhawale's team, led by Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Yede-Patil.
