Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim undergoing medical procedures, aide says

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is currently undergoing medical tests and procedures, with his aide stating he is expected to be under observation for the next two days. Press Secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah confirmed that Anwar is "undergoing examinations and procedures set by a team of medical experts," though no additional details were provided.

The Prime Minister's condition has raised concerns, with his colleague from Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, wishing him a speedy recovery. Sharif expressed his support, stating, "Wishing my dear brother, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, a swift and smooth recovery during his medical procedures." He added, "The people of Pakistan join me in praying for his continued good health and well-being."

Anwar Ibrahim, who turned 79 on Monday and has been in office since 2022, has dealt with recurrent shoulder and back problems. He was previously hospitalized in 2018 due to shoulder and back pain. In November, he canceled a trip to Pahang state due to back pain. However, in January, he received a clean bill of health following a routine medical examination, according to a hospital statement.
