LG orders rotation of long-serving officials, tells Delhi govt to redraw list of sensitive departments

Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, has ordered a transfer of senior officials who have long remained in their current positions and a review of the list of sensitive government departments, sources reported. This move follows a recent administrative reshuffle of 16 IAS and DANICS officials across various departments.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has advocated for the rotation of officials, especially those who have been in the same role for an extended period. Officials indicated that around 60-70% of cadre and ex-cadre personnel have been in their departments for over five years. Sandhu has instructed Chief Vigilance Officers to be posted in all sensitive government departments immediately.

The review of the vigilance systems and practices was conducted by Sandhu, who recently met the Principal Secretary (Vigilance). The existing circular on postings of longer duration is to be revised, and Sandhu has directed the creation of a standard mechanism for the vigilance department to monitor adherence to Central Vigilance Commission guidelines in contract and tender processes.
