Lelaki sebabkan kematian penunggang dipenjara 6 tahun, denda RM20,000

In Johor Bahru, a 25-year-old man named T Yuken was sentenced to six years in prison and fined RM20,000 by the Johor Bahru High Court for dangerous driving that led to the death of a motorcycle rider. The verdict was delivered by Judge Nur Fatin Mohamad Farid following Yuken's guilty plea, which was made in Tamil. According to The Star, Yuken also faces a year in jail if he fails to pay the fine and an additional RM4,000 to the victim's family, Noor Adlin Roslan.

Yuken was also banned from holding or obtaining a driving license for five years and fined if he holds a provisional license. The charges against him were brought under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to RM50,000. The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhaizam Rostam Affendi, while Yuken was not represented by a lawyer.

He expressed remorse and apologized for his mistake, but Muhaizam requested the court to consider several mitigating factors before delivering the sentence. The judge noted that the public interest should be taken into account, as Yuken's actions posed a serious threat to the safety of other road users. The accident resulted in the death of a 41-year-old father with four young children, who left behind a wife and family.

The court scheduled a hearing for December 10 to reconsider the payment status of the victim's family compensation and issue any necessary orders if payments are not made.
