Lagos man beaten to death over missing phone

In a tragic incident in Lagos, a young man named Azeez was beaten to death over a dispute involving a missing phone. The clash occurred on Monday, August 3, at Oko-Oba in the Agege area of Lagos State. According to a police source, Azeez was involved in an argument with colleagues over the stolen phone after attending a party. The altercation escalated into an assault by suspected cultists, who were reportedly friends of Azeez.

The police source stated that the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries sustained during the assault. Meanwhile, an anti-cultism advocacy group, Naija Confra, provided additional details about the incident. The group claimed that the dispute began during a birthday celebration on Sunday night, August 2. It was reported that Abela allegedly took the phone and handed it to Azeez.

When the phone's owner and his friends confronted Azeez about the phone's whereabouts, Abela allegedly denied having given the phone to Azeez. Azeez, however, was convinced that Abela had given him the phone. Following the confrontation, the phone's owner and his friends attacked Azeez, leading to his death. The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, was unresponsive to inquiries regarding the incident.
