Kroll witness tells High Court she was unsure Jho Low was ‘number one’, confirms Najib received 1MDB funds

An offshore asset recovery expert testified in the High Court today that she could not confirm if Jho Low, the fugitive businessman known as Jho Low, was the "number one" person involved in the alleged 1MDB conspiracy. Angela Barkhouse, the managing director of Kroll (Cayman) Ltd and head of Kroll's Offshore Practice, testified during the fifth day of the USD5.64 billion civil suit against Najib Razak and six others in the High Court.

Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, Najib's lead counsel, asked Barkhouse whether she had encountered the name "Jho Low" during her investigation. Barkhouse responded affirmatively. Shafee then inquired whether Barkhouse agreed that Jho Low was at the center of the controversy and the alleged conspiracy to destroy 1MDB. Barkhouse replied that Jho Low was "amongst others" involved.

When Shafee pressed further to ask if Barkhouse would rank Jho Low as the "number one" figure in the alleged conspiracy, Barkhouse responded that she was not certain. Shafee then emphasized that if Barkhouse had come across other individuals or entities during her investigation, those who received funds would be of interest to her. Barkhouse affirmed that her statement implied that funds received by others, including Najib Razak, would indeed be of interest to her investigation.
