Khon Kaen students involved in alleged bullying provide conflicting accounts

A family in Khon Kaen is seeking legal action against three to four students from their son's school, alleging that he endured repeated bullying and physical abuse from the age of 16. The teenager, now 18, claims the abuse started at 16 and was subjected to it by classmates who also asked for money. According to screenshots provided by the family, the teenagers demanded 1,000 baht for the bullying to stop.

The alleged abuse included physical assaults and the placing of lit cigarettes on the teenager. The boy's grandmother, who contacted the other student's family, said she was concerned about her grandson's wellbeing and did not seek to blame anyone. The school, Khon Kaen Witthayayon School, has issued a clarification stating they are aware of the allegations and have taken action, separating the students in different classrooms, but disputes the extortion claim.

The school director says the students borrowed money from the teenager but often failed to repay it. The mother of one of the accused students, however, disputes her son's account of his injury, claiming he said it was caused by a pimple, not an assault. Despite the school's clarification and the denials from the accused students, the teenager's parents insist they will pursue legal action.

The school director said the school respects the family's decision and will cooperate with any investigation. The case remains subject to further investigation with conflicting accounts from the teenager's family, the school, and the families of the accused students.
