Kalonzo: My wealth was about Ksh50M in 2022

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka recently gave his best estimate for the amount of money he declared in his wealth declaration in 2022, saying it was around Ksh50 million. He added that the figure may be worth between Ksh55 million and Ksh60 million today, after factoring in inflation, but made clear that he was not providing an exact current wealth figure.

The former Vice President made these remarks during a televised interview on August 10, 2026, as he prepared for the 2027 general election. Kalonzo provided the wealth declaration figure when asked about his financial status ahead of the election. He clarified that the estimate was merely approximate and based on the last wealth declaration he filed with the Speaker of the National Assembly.

When pressed to adjust the figure for inflation, Kalonzo emphasized that his comments were only an estimate and that he did not have his financial records available during the interview. He also dismissed claims that his estimate might indicate hidden wealth or assets held in foreign accounts, stating categorically that he had no undisclosed wealth or foreign bank accounts in his name or those of his associates.

Furthermore, Kalonzo noted that his current financial situation should be understood in the context of his absence from public office for approximately 15 years. He explained that he is not earning a salary and relies solely on his pension for income. He reiterated that he would verify his records with Parliament and provide the exact figure if requested.
