Guimaraes can ignite something different in us – Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes signing Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes will inject new energy and ambition into the team. The 28-year-old was officially announced as a Newcastle United product for £75m on Saturday, with Guimaraes introduced to fans at Emirates Stadium before Sunday's match against Borussia Dortmund. Despite not being included in the initial matchday squad, the midfielder is expected to feature in the upcoming game against Como on Wednesday.

With Guimaraes joining a midfield already featuring Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, Eberechi Eze, and Mikel Merino, Arteta highlighted the midfielder's versatility. He can play in two different positions, depending on the team's needs or the opponent's tactics. Guimaraes possesses excellent timing and intuition to regain possession and quickly advance the play.

He is comfortable distributing the ball through the lines and behind, while also posing a significant goal threat when entering the box.

The manager confirmed that Arsenal is not done with their summer transfer activity, despite already signing Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge and bringing in goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer. Vinicius Jr's transfer to Real Madrid remains unchanged, but Arteta remains committed to pursuing ambitious signings in the transfer market. Jurrien Timber's return to fitness and William Saliba's recovery from a back injury are ongoing concerns for the Gunners.
