Guan Eng questions Penang PH's stance on UMNO

DAP advisor Lim Guan Eng has raised questions about the Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership's decision to maintain support for UMNO in the state government despite allegations against DAP and PKR. Lim argued that this stance is perplexing when no response is given to statements made by Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, who claimed unfounded accusations against DAP and PKR regarding identity politics.

Lim further questioned how this approach conveys a message of decisive action to defend the dignity and honor of the Penang government to voters.

PH Penang chairman Chow Kon Yeow announced the decision to collaborate with BN and UMNO on Saturday following a state PH meeting. This decision included retaining BN Exco Datuk Rashidi Zinol in the Penang government administration. Chow also noted that PH Penang acknowledged the national unity government's stance to remain until the next general election.

Lim emphasized that political differences between parties in the government should not be an excuse to leave unfounded accusations unanswered. He stressed that the party's principles and dignity must be defended, especially when leaders elected by the people make statements that affect relations between parties in the state government. Lim urged clear responses to accusations and defended government cooperation based on mutual respect, rather than sacrificing principles.
