Govt offers Amit Shah statement in Parliament, opposition doesn't relent

The Indian government has agreed to hold a debate in Parliament regarding the recent student protest and Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on the matter, but opposition parties remain uncompromising. Congress and Rahul Gandhi have consistently demanded a statement from Shah regarding alleged police excesses against protesters and a statement on the embezzlement of Ram temple funds.

The government is prepared to engage in a detailed discussion but requests the opposition not to disrupt the proceedings during Shah's statement, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, however, insists that all issues raised by Congress are non-negotiable, and he accuses Rahul of changing his demands.

Nadda, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, stated that his intention is to prevent the House from functioning, to which Gandhi rejected the proposal and urged Rahul not to avoid discussions. The opposition has not specified the order in which they want the issues to be addressed, leaving the issue unresolved as the monsoon session concludes on August 13.
