Gombe gov appoints 19 permanent secretaries

Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has officially approved the appointment of 19 permanent secretaries on Monday. This move aims to address the shortage of permanent secretaries in the State Civil Service and bolster administrative capacity for effective service delivery. The appointments come in the wake of recent government-created and restructured ministries, which necessitated competent leadership to fulfill the ministries' mandates.

The Head of the State Civil Service, Prof. Mu'azu Shehu, revealed that the selected officers were chosen from 11 local government areas, taking into account geographical distribution, professional experience, competence, and the specific needs of each ministry. Shehu emphasized that the recommendations were based on the suitability, competence, and proven records of the officers, as they had consistently performed satisfactorily and maintained a clean service record.

"Governor Inuwa Yahaya expects the new permanent secretaries to leverage their experience, professional competence, and demonstrated capacity to contribute to the administration's goal of building a responsive, efficient, professional, and results-oriented civil service," said Shehu. The appointments are set to commence immediately.
