Felix Rosenqvist and Will Power slam IndyCar traffic rules after Portland podium finishes

Felix Rosenqvist and Will Power secured second and third place on the podium at the Grand Prix of Portland, but their post-race remarks centered on the traffic management issues that plagued the race. Rosenqvist, driving for Meyer Shank Racing, started on pole and led 33 laps before being overtaken by lapped cars. He attributed his position to a combination of circumstances, including a pit box exit and an overcut strategy by the winner, Alex Palou.

The Swedish driver expressed a desire for improved communication and a shift in IndyCar's approach to handling lapped cars. "I think it makes us all look stupid," Rosenqvist said, adding that he believes all drivers would agree with his stance on the matter.

Will Power, competing for Andretti Global, echoed Rosenqvist's frustration. His race was further complicated by a radio communication issue that led to a missed pit call. This error caused him to lose almost three seconds behind a lapped car, Sting Ray Robb. Power reiterated his concerns about the outdated rules governing traffic management in IndyCar, referencing the persistent "1970s rule" that remains unchanged.

Both drivers expressed a cynical view that nothing would change, as the same discussion about blue-flag rules typically arises every year.
