Explosions and widespread fires rip through occupied Crimea following overnight drone strikes

On August 10, drone strikes triggered explosions and widespread fires in the occupied cities of Yany Kapu and Sevastopol in Crimea. Local monitoring group Crimean Wind reported seven explosions in Yany Kapu between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., causing a fire in an industrial zone near the train station. The site, used by Russian military personnel for equipment storage and repairs, is located in the Perekop district and serves as one of the peninsula's primary industrial hubs.

In Sevastopol, air raid alerts sounded from the evening of August 9 through early August 10 as drones buzzed overhead and heavy gunfire erupted. Explosions and small-arms fire were reported near the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant. Russian-installed "governor" Mikhail Razvozhaev claimed that air defenses had successfully repelled the overnight drone attack, shooting down around 15 UAVs, most of which fell into the sea far from the coastline.

However, debris from the attack sparked two forest fires near Inzhir Beach, prompting the evacuation of a local campsite. Additionally, falling debris landed along the Fiolent Highway. Power was partially disrupted in Simferopol following a 4 a.m. explosion, but residents reported that electricity was restored by morning.

Despite the drone strikes in Crimea, a separate Ukrainian drone strike targeted an oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk on August 10, igniting a massive fire at the facility.
