In Nischnekamsk, a city in the Russian republic of Tatarstan, at least twelve people were killed and 39 injured in a Ukrainian drone attack, according to official figures from the Kazan government. The republic leader, Rustam Minnikhanov, declared a day of mourning across Tatarstan. The mayor of Nischnekamsk, Radmir Beljajev, had previously reported a massive attack by Ukrainian drones on industrial facilities and civilian objects, including what was later claimed to be one of the largest oil refineries.

Ukrainian media reported the attack but did not confirm the presence of the refinery immediately. Kiew, the Ukrainian capital, continues to target Russian oil industry facilities in its defense against Moscow's war of aggression, aiming to disrupt Moscow's revenue, particularly from energy exports. Recent Ukrainian counterattacks have resulted in the deaths of more civilians.
