Como sign England defender Chalobah from Chelsea

Italian side Como have secured the signing of England central defender Trevoh Chalobah from Premier League champions Chelsea for a reported price of 30 million euros ($34.5 million), the Serie A outfit confirmed on Sunday. The 27-year-old has committed to a five-year contract with the ambitious Cesc Fabregas-led club, who will compete in their inaugural Champions League campaign.

Chalobah expressed his excitement about joining the new team, stating, "I can't wait to bring my experience to the team, feel the incredible atmosphere at the stadium, and connect with the fans." He has made 151 appearances for Chelsea during his time there. Chalobah's arrival came as a surprise, as AC Milan and Juventus had also been interested in the player before ultimately deciding the fee was too high.

Como's coach, former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, praised the signing, calling Chalobah an "important signing for us" and a player who embodies the club's high ambitions. The coach added, "He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como."

Chalobah, who was part of the England squad that finished third at the World Cup, could make his debut for Como when they face Udinese in their Serie A opener on August 22.
