Bruce Feldman names 4 Notre Dame players to his ‘Freaks List’

The annual "Freaks List" compiled by Bruce Feldman features notable yet uncommonly gifted athletes in college football. This year, Notre Dame made it onto the list with four players. The highest-ranking Irish player is Francis Brewu, who ranks 24th. Brewu has impressive strength stats, including a 685-pound squat, 475-pound bench press, and a 33-inch vertical jump despite weighing 285 pounds.

Next on the list is defensive lineman Bryce Young at No. 50. Young, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 270 pounds, has a 34 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-5 broad jump, and can bench-press and power-clean 335 pounds. Offensive tackle Anthonie Knapp follows at No. 63. Knapp has started 27 games over the last two seasons for Notre Dame and has a 33-inch vertical jump, a 345-pound clean, a 585-pound squat, and a 405-pound bench press.

Elijah Hughes rounds out the Notre Dame players on the list at No. 72. Despite weighing 304 pounds, Hughes' broad jump is almost 9 1/2 feet and his vertical jump is 33 inches, along with a 610-pound squat and a 345-pound clean. Notre Dame enters the next season with high expectations to win the college football national championship, and this list shows the team's share of "freaks" as well.
