BBQ Opens First Mexico City Restaurant, Expanding K-Chicken Business in Latin America

Genesis BBQ Group, a South Korean chicken franchise operator, announced the opening of its first restaurant in Mexico City on August 10, expanding its presence in Latin America. The new BBQ Zona Rosa restaurant, situated in the Zona Rosa commercial district, marks the company's 20th store in the region, joining markets in Panama, Costa Rica, the Bahamas, Colombia, and Mexico City.

With Mexico's population of approximately 130 million, the capital city of 9.2 million and its metropolitan area of over 20 million residents, presents a substantial market for the company's K-chicken business.

The 338-square-meter, two-story restaurant features seating for 115 customers on a terrace and includes a diverse menu. While it centers around a variety of fried chicken dishes, including Golden Fried Chicken, Classic Fried, and Cheesling, the menu also incorporates Korean cuisine, desserts, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic beverages. The restaurant's strategic location near Paseo de la Reforma, a major thoroughfare, attracts both locals and tourists.

BBQ's expansion in Mexico is part of a broader strategy to leverage the country's large domestic consumer base and its strategic position between North and Latin America. The Mexico City location serves as a base for further expansion into other major urban centers in the country. By August, a second restaurant is set to open in Monterrey, a key industrial and economic hub in northern Mexico.

The company plans to continue building its presence in major Mexican cities while reinforcing its brand competitiveness across North and Latin America.
