'Barbed Wires Have Filled Me With Anger': Hunger-Striking Devendra Nath Mahto Leads Jharkhand Students' March To Assembly | Video

Ranchi, Jharkhand - Hunger-striking student leader Devendra Nath Mahto joined the protest march to the Jharkhand assembly on Monday, expressing his frustration over the barbed wire barricades erected by the administration and police. Mahto, a member of Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM), has been on a nine-day hunger strike at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, the main protest site, demanding a CBI probe into alleged examination irregularities and the cancellation of the Central Government Liberal (CGL) examination.

Upon reaching the assembly gate, Mahto was met with a barrage of barbed wire, which prompted him to question the government's intentions. He accused the state government of attempting to create an anarchy-like situation by refusing to concede the students' key demands. Mahto carried the national flag and a photograph of Shibu Soren, a key-founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and father of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, during his journey to the assembly.

The government has since tightened security around the Assembly, installing barricades topped with barbed wire to prevent protesters from breaching the premises.

Despite the challenges, Mahto remains determined. He stated that the hunger strike will continue and urged all students to remain disciplined. He emphasized that the remaining demands, including a CBI probe into the alleged examination irregularities and the cancellation of the CGL examination, could potentially bring down the government's chair. Mahto's unwavering commitment to the cause has resonated with the protesting students, who are determined to see their demands met.
