Australia ends homicide probe after suspected ‘body’ turns out to be lifelike doll

Australian police have concluded a homicide investigation that began after two members of the public discovered a suitcase on the side of a road in a remote town during a Sunday drive. Initially, the contents of the suitcase appeared to be the remains of a human body. However, forensic examinations revealed that the item in the bag was actually a lifelike doll, complete with clothing, hair, and a nose piercing.

The doll also had markings that resembled bruises and grazes. The suitcase was found in Oallen, a town approximately 200 kilometers southwest of Sydney. Police established a crime scene, but decided not to closely examine the contents due to potential weather conditions. Superintendent Linda Bradbury stated that police prefer to avoid disturbing remains too much in situ, especially when faced with challenging weather conditions. The doll was described as very realistic in appearance.
