Arul Kumar takes over as DAP Negeri Sembilan chairman after Loke steps down

J Arul Kumar, a Nilai assemblyman, has been unanimously appointed as the new DAP Negeri Sembilan chairman, taking over from party secretary-general Anthony Loke. This appointment came after Loke decided to step down from the state leadership following the recent Negeri Sembilan state election. Loke, who also serves as Transport Minister, emphasized that the leadership change underscores the DAP's dedication to its multiracial character.

He congratulated Arul Kumar, who received unanimous support from committee members, and stated that he is confident in Kumar's ability to manage the duties and responsibilities effectively. Loke highlighted that the DAP Negeri Sembilan chapter has previously been led by a Malay leader, Yusoff Badur, in the early 1980s, although he did not win any elections.

Arul Kumar, for his part, pledged to fulfill his duties to the best of his abilities, acknowledging the challenging task ahead following the party's victory in nine state seats during the recent election. He emphasized that the focus remains on delivering the best possible service to the people, despite not being part of the state government.
