Arab League chief: Netanyahu’s rejection of peace plan shows disregard for global will

Arab League Chief Nabil Fahmy has denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rejection of a 15-point peace plan for Gaza, stating it shows a lack of respect for global consensus and the peace process. Fahmy highlighted Netanyahu's opposition to the creation of a Palestinian state in Gaza and the West Bank, affirming this stance undermines prospects for a just and comprehensive settlement.

He also pointed out Israel's persistent breaches of the ceasefire, such as attacks on civilians and medical facilities, as blatant violations of UN resolutions. Fahmy welcomed the foreign ministers of eight Arab and Islamic nations' clear stance on these violations, as stated on August 6. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the comprehensive peace plan and moving forward with the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit's recommendations, particularly the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Fahmy warned against Israel's efforts to alter the ground reality in Gaza and the West Bank, which he claims aim to solidify occupation and hinder the possibility of a Palestinian state, in direct defiance of international law and UN resolutions. He urged US President Donald Trump and the global community to fulfill their responsibilities by enforcing the peace plan's full implementation, as per UN Security Council Resolution 2803 of 2025, and urging Israel to cease its violations and honor its commitments to secure a just and lasting resolution.
