Amirudin Shari: Pakatan open to working with Bersatu, Perikatan if stability maintained

BANGI, Aug 10 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) leader Amirudin Shari emphasized the party's commitment to political stability and the welfare of the people when contemplating any type of political collaboration with other parties or coalitions. PH is amenable to forming cooperation or reaching an accord with any party or coalition that upholds these core values, Shari told reporters after inaugurating the Ecology International Conference II (HEIC-II) 2026.

The PKR vice-president clarified that PH is not exclusively considering collaboration with Bersatu or Perikatan Nasional (PN), but any party that respects the principles of political stability and the well-being of the populace. Shari denied that Selangor PH had engaged in any cooperation with Bersatu, emphasizing that no discussions or decisions involving the party had taken place.

Any potential collaboration must be assessed logically at the central level, accounting for factors such as election timing and other pertinent circumstances. "Of course, I cannot make the decision myself, as I also share responsibility with the central leadership," Shari stated. "So, if there are conversations (at the Selangor PH level), I will convey the matter to the central leadership."

The Selangor Menteri Besar noted that current discussions are merely external ideas or perspectives, possibly arising from nationwide political shifts or in the context of a state election. Last Friday, media reports suggested that Selangor PH was open to the possibility of partnering with Bersatu, primarily at the state level, aiming to maintain both parties' relevance and strength ahead of upcoming elections, including the general election (GE) and the Melaka state election.
