Amirudin Shari: Pakatan open to working with Bersatu, Perikatan if stability maintained

BANGI, Aug 10 — President of Pakatan Harapan (PH) Amirudin Shari emphasized political stability and the welfare of the people as the top priorities in any potential political cooperation, stating that PH is open to working with any party or coalition that shares these core values. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Ecology International Conference II (HEIC-II) 2026, the Selangor Menteri Besar also denied that Selangor PH had engaged in any discussions or decisions regarding cooperation with Bersatu, asserting that no such matters were currently taking place.

Amirudin clarified that any potential cooperation must be assessed rationally at the central level, taking into account factors such as election timing and other pertinent circumstances, and emphasized that he could not make unilateral decisions as responsibility also lies with the central leadership. The Selangor PH leader indicated that the current external ideas or views regarding potential collaboration with Bersatu may stem from national-level political realignments or state election considerations.

Last Friday, media reports suggested that Selangor PH was open to the possibility of a partnership with Bersatu, primarily at the state level, with the aim of maintaining relevance and strength ahead of upcoming elections, including the general election (GE) and the Melaka state election.
