A Tesla, a fake IAS card and a house full of secrets: How a ‘Government of India’ sticker led police to a bigger story

A five-story house in Bihar's Khagaria district was the focal point of a major investigation that began when police came across a Tesla with a "Government of India" sticker. The owner, identified as Mukesh Kumar Gupta, claimed to be an IAS officer and an undercover agent working with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. However, his identity card was found to be a forgery. Gupta was arrested for impersonation, contempt of lawful authority, cheating, and forgery under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Further probing revealed that Gupta had been running a fraud racket, impersonating IAS officers and spreading false rumors to assert dominance. Police found iPhones, a MacBook, and an iPad, as well as bank cards, debit cards, and even 32 bottles of foreign liquor in the house. The illicit substances were seized, leading to additional charges under a prohibition law.

Gupta and his brother Ajit Kumar, a London-based fund manager, were booked under various sections of the BNS and the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act. Police are examining Gupta's properties and financial dealings, with the Bihar Police's Economic Offences Unit set to assist in the investigation.
