10 kawasan di Sarawak, Selangor catat IPU tidak sihat

According to the IPU Standards Management System website, ten locations in Sarawak and Selangor recorded unhealthy air quality index (AQI) readings as of 8am today. The nine locations in Sarawak listed unhealthy AQI readings were Serian (178), Kuching (161), Samarahan (160), Sibu (157), Sri Aman (156), Mukah and Sarikei (155), Bintulu (143) and Samalaju (128).

Johan Setia in Selangor was the only location on the mainland to record unhealthy air quality, with an AQI reading of 154. Fifty-five locations in the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak were categorized as good, while Kangar, Langkawi and Jerantut recorded good AQI readings. The IPU score of 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is categorized as moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, 301 to 400 is dangerous, 401 to 500 is severely dangerous and 501 and above is alarming.

The Meteorological Department's significant weather forecast notice yesterday warned hot weather and less rain were expected across most of Borneo, including Sarawak until August 14. It said the influence of south winds and the expected number of heat waves would keep the border crossing and reduce visibility, especially in southern Sarawak.
