‘We’re sorry’: Blackpink apologise to Blinks after 10th anniversary plans spark fan frustration

Blackpink have apologized to their fans following the disappointment surrounding their 10th anniversary reunion event. The K-pop group, comprising Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, reunited in Seoul yesterday, marking exactly a decade since their debut. However, the small-scale celebration at the National Museum of Korea left many fans, known as Blinks, feeling frustrated as the event was announced just two days in advance.

During a subsequent Weverse livestream, Jisoo admitted that the group had fallen short in their communication efforts, expressing regret and appreciation to the Blinks who may have felt disappointed. "We prepared a small event, but originally we wanted to see many more people," she said. The livestream provided fans with a rare opportunity to see all four members together, reflecting on the past decade since Blackpink debuted with their album Square One in 2016.

Despite the controversy, the event allowed the group to reconnect and celebrate their achievements. Rosé noted that the years had flown by, while Lisa admitted to feeling anxious before the anniversary celebrations. The limited plans became a sensitive issue given the members' individual careers since they opted not to renew their solo contracts with YG Entertainment in 2023.

Each member has since pursued separate ventures, including Jennie's OA Entertainment, Jisoo's Blissoo, Lisa's Lloud, and Rosé's The Black Label. Despite the setback, Blackpink successfully reunited for their "Deadline" world tour in 2023, which included two stadium concerts in Goyang, drawing a combined audience of 78,000. The group later released their third EP, Deadline, their first album in three years and five months.
