Former Felda chairman Shabery Cheek has stated that there was no proposal to sell any of the agency's hotels in London during his tenure, which ended in late June. Felda owns four properties in London, consisting of two hotels and two student accommodations. "No application to sell a Felda hotel in London was made while I was at Felda," he affirmed, adding that he is concerned the Prime Minister may have received misguided advice regarding the sale of Felda's assets.

Shabery emphasized the need for clarification on the details of the four London properties to prevent confusion between the value of individual assets and the total portfolio worth. Moreover, he noted that any decision to sell Felda's assets requires authorization from the government, including the Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister's advisory panel.

Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister, revealed on Friday that he refused to approve a deal to sell a Felda hotel for £100 million (£550 million) after learning it had been purchased by the previous management for £160 million. The Prime Minister, who is also the Finance Minister, stated that Felda's management had met with him two months prior to seek approval for the sale.

Consequently, he has instructed a full report to be submitted on the matter, adding that Felda should not incur losses while the explorer continues to struggle with inadequate income and basic facilities.
