SIA flights among more than 20 between Singapore and Shanghai cancelled due to Typhoon Dolphin

Eight Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights to and from Shanghai, scheduled for August 9 and 10, were cancelled due to Typhoon Dolphin. An additional ten SIA flights departing on August 10 and 11 were also rescheduled, according to the airline's announcement on August 8. The affected SIA flights include SQ828, SQ830, SQ832, SQ836 from Shanghai to Singapore on August 9, and SQ831, SQ833, SQ835, SQ825, SQ826, SQ828, SQ830, SQ832, SQ836, SQ827, SQ831, SQ833, SQ835, SQ825 from Singapore to Shanghai on August 10 and 11.

SIA advised passengers to check the flight status page on their website for the latest updates. As the situation is fluid, other SIA flights may also be affected. Typhoon Dolphin is expected to make landfall in China late on August 9 and early August 10, with China's National Meteorological Centre predicting winds of 38m to 45m per second near its centre.

Rain and strong winds are anticipated to impact the eastern part of the country through August 12, including Shanghai and surrounding provinces. The typhoon had earlier caused damage in Japan's Okinawa prefecture on August 8, injuring six people and cutting power to over 50,000 buildings.
