Sabah bakal peroleh 30% pegangan dalam 2 lapangan minyak dan gas

Ketua Menteri Sabah, Hajiji Noor, has announced that the state will gain a 30% stake in two new oil and gas fields located on the eastern coast. Speaking at the 32nd anniversary celebration of the Progressive Kinabalu United Association, Noor also revealed that the state is aiming to secure a 40% equity in Sabah's floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project.

The government hopes to enter into agreements for such equity stakes in the near future. Additionally, the state plans to develop new industrial zones, including in Kota Belud and Kudat, to boost investment and advance the local blue economy. Noor emphasized these developments as part of the state's efforts to strengthen its involvement in the oil and gas industry through strategic cooperation with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) under a Commercial Cooperation Agreement (CCA).

This cooperation enhances the state's equity in oil and gas exploration and development, while also opening up more opportunities for local companies to participate in related industry development. The government continues to focus on strengthening financial performance and increasing state revenue as key foundations for Sabah's economic growth.

Since 2022, the state has managed to maintain a revenue of RM7 billion annually, and Noor anticipates this figure to rise to RM8 billion in the current year. By 2025, the state will record investments worth RM7.6 billion in the manufacturing sector, a nearly 208% increase compared to 2024, he added. Noor believes that these achievements are further supported by the state's economic resilience in facing both domestic and global challenges, firmly positioning Sabah as a strategic investment destination.
