Sabah bakal peroleh 30% pegangan dalam 2 lapangan minyak dan gas

Ketua Menteri Sabah, Hajiji Noor, announced during a recent speech that the state government will gain 30% control in two new oil and gas fields located on the eastern coast of the state. The government is also aiming to secure 40% equity in a floating Liquid Natural Gas (FLNG) facility project in Sabah. The exact agreements are expected to be signed soon.

In addition to these developments, the state government plans to build new industrial parks, including in Kota Belud and Kudat, to further boost investment and the green economy. Hajiji Noor, who is also the President of the Sabah Progressive Unity Party (PKR), said that these developments are part of the state government's efforts to strengthen Sabah's involvement in the oil and gas industry through strategic cooperation with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) under a Commercial Cooperation Agreement (CCA).

This cooperation will increase the state's equity stake in oil and gas exploration and development while opening up more opportunities for local companies to participate in the relevant industry development. The state government continues to focus on strengthening financial performance and increasing domestic revenue as key foundations for driving Sabah's development.

Since 2022, the state government has managed to maintain a revenue surplus of RM7 billion annually, and it expects this figure to rise to RM8 billion in the current year. Investment in manufacturing reached RM7.6 billion in 2025, marking a nearly 208% increase compared to 2024, according to Hajiji. The success of these achievements is also supported by the state's economic resilience in facing various domestic and global challenges, further solidifying Sabah's position as a strategic investment destination.
