Pulau Tuba’s authentic village life pitched as Langkawi’s next big tourism secret

Langkawi tourism officials believe the island's hidden gem, Pulau Tuba, possesses the potential to attract more visitors with its authentic village atmosphere and distinct cultural experiences. Despite Langkawi recording over three million tourist arrivals, Pulau Tuba remains relatively underexplored, revealing untapped potential.

The serene setting and traditional landscape, including roaming buffaloes, set it apart from other destinations. Local cuisine, such as sea cucumber and shellfish, adds to the unique appeal. The Kedah Tourism, Culture and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Salleh Saidin highlighted the island's potential as a premier tourism destination and pledged to promote its attractions to international visitors.

Various programs and events have been organized to capitalize on Pulau Tuba's unique offerings, promising economic benefits for the local community. Thirty-one media practitioners from Kedah recently had the chance to immerse themselves in the island's lifestyle, culture, and traditional cuisine. With a population of around 5,000, Pulau Tuba is one of the 99 islands that constitute the Langkawi archipelago.
