Pulau Tuba’s authentic village life pitched as Langkawi’s next big tourism secret

Pulau Tuba, a quaint island in Langkawi, is poised to become a major tourism draw, according to Kedah Tourism, Culture and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Salleh Saidin. Despite Langkawi's high visitor numbers, Pulau Tuba remains relatively undiscovered, presenting a treasure trove of authentic traditional village life and cultural experiences.

Mohd Salleh pointed out that the island's tranquil atmosphere, buffaloes roaming freely, and unique local delicacies such as sea cucumber and shellfish set it apart from the luxurious offerings of modern tourism. The state government is eager to promote Pulau Tuba's appeal to both domestic and international tourists, focusing on its distinctive attractions to generate economic benefits for the local community.

To kickstart the promotion, 31 media practitioners from Kedah were invited to experience the island's culture, cuisine, and activities firsthand, participating in traditional games and sampling local specialties.
