Prabowo: Those Who Never Face Hardship Cannot Become Leaders

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto believes that individuals who have never faced hardship or suffering cannot become leaders, as character formation requires overcoming obstacles. During the 50th birthday celebration of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, Prabowo made these remarks at the Jakarta Theater in Jakarta.

He emphasized that courage is an essential trait for a leader, but it must be accompanied by virtues and empathy. Prabowo stated that courage without virtue could result in a reckless or unwise leader. He also highlighted that leadership spirit is not an easily acquired gift, but rather a result of hard work, attitude, and inherent values.

Prabowo shared his experience leading the Indonesian Army's special forces, noting that his leadership abilities were honed through observing people from a young age and making assessments based on limited interactions. He stressed the importance of preparing future generations to possess resilience for international competition, warning against complacency or dependency on help from others.
