Police nab 26-yr-old suspected cultist, recover locally made gun in Ekiti

Police officials in Ekiti State have apprehended a 26-year-old man, Sunday Samuel, suspected of involvement in cult-related activities in Efon Alaaye, Efon Local Government Area. The arrest occurred on August 7 following intelligence received about the suspect's presence and actions in the town. Ekiti State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, announced the arrest in a statement from Ado Ekiti.

Abutu explained that police officers swiftly launched an investigation following the intelligence, leading to Samuel's apprehension. During the operation, police recovered a locally manufactured single-barrel gun loaded with one cartridge and a mobile phone from the suspect. Samuel was taken into custody around 11:45 pm, along with the firearm and other items.

Subsequently, Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Michael Falade, ordered the case to be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ado Ekiti for further scrutiny. The police command has reaffirmed its commitment to thwarting cult-related violence and other criminal activities across the state. They have urged the public to remain vigilant, providing timely and credible information to assist ongoing security operations aimed at maintaining peace and public safety.
