Police arrest four persons and crack three abduction cases

The Mysuru district police have apprehended four individuals and solved three abduction cases for ransom. A special task force was formed after a complaint was lodged with the Varuna Police station on July 16, 2026, by Ramu, a resident of Muddegowdanahundi. The accused, identified as Siddaraju, Anand N., Karthik K.M., and Purushotham, were arrested in a sting operation conducted between July 26 and August 4.

Superintendent Mallikarjun Baladandi announced that the police are still searching for four more suspects. According to the police, Ramu, who was returning home from his farmhouse on a scooter around 8:30 p.m. on July 15, was stopped by the four accused who had been traveling in a car. The suspects snatched a 30-gram gold chain, two gold rings weighing 10 grams each, and ₹50,000 from Ramu's pocket.

They then demanded around ₹40 lakh for his release, which he could only manage by paying ₹16 lakh through his brother-in-law Suresh. After the release, Ramu informed the police about the incident. During interrogation, the accused admitted to abducting Ramu and demanding the ransom. They also revealed their involvement in two other cases of abduction: one in November 2025 involving Ravi from Kuppegal village and another in which they abducted Suresh and demanded ₹5 lakh. The police recovered ₹4.3 lakh in cash, a car, two two-wheelers, and five mobile phones.
