Police arrest 56-yr-old suspect for alleged distribution of illicit drugs in Delta community

In a recent development in the Delta community, police have apprehended a 56-year-old man, identified as Lucky Oyiboka, for allegedly distributing illicit drugs. According to the Delta State Police Command, the arrest took place on August 8th, 2026, in Owa-Abbi Community, Ukwani Local Government Area. The suspect was apprehended as a result of an intelligence-led raid conducted by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the police force.

Upon the arrest, the police recovered 21 bags of suspected Indian hemp from Oyiboka's possession. This haul was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, during a statement to newsmen in Warri. Edafe explained that the raid was executed based on credible intelligence, leading to Oyiboka's arrest alongside the drug seizure. Oyiboka, who is currently under police custody, is set to face court proceedings after the investigation determines the extent of his alleged involvement in the illicit drug trade.

Edafe hinted at intensified investigations to unravel the full scale of Oyiboka's alleged activities and identify other individuals associated with the distribution network. As of now, Oyiboka remains in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
