PM Narendra Modi meets CWG medallists: ‘Always cheer for Bharat’

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with members of the Indian Commonwealth Games team who had returned to India with medals from Glasgow. The Prime Minister expressed his pride in the athletes' achievements, saying in a video message, "Jo khelega, woh khilega. Always cheer for Bharat." Among those who met the Prime Minister was gold medalist boxer Sakshi Chaudhary.

The Indian team had a strong showing in Glasgow, taking home 39 medals, including 13 golds. "Our honourable PM sir has welcomed all the medallists from the Commonwealth Games and we are feeling very proud of this. We have really enjoyed meeting him, he is very humble," Sakshi said. The PM's message was echoed by the athletes, with one of the boxers stating, "Always cheer for Bharat."

With the upcoming Asian Games 2026 fast approaching, the Indian athletes are already looking ahead to surpass their best-ever performance from the 2022 Hangzhou Games, where they finished fourth with 106 medals.
