Pezeshkian recently met Supreme Leader Khamenei, state media reports

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian recently met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, state media reported. This encounter took place at the beginning of Pezeshkian's third year in office, around late July. Prior to this meeting, Pezeshkian had stated that interactions with the supreme leader were increasing, though he later claimed that communication with Khamenei was very difficult.

The July meeting focused on military affairs and the economy, with discussions on securing resources, managing foreign exchange, energy use, and economic ties with foreign partners. In May, state media had previously reported that Pezeshkian had met Khamenei for several hours, marking the first public meeting between the two since Khamenei became supreme leader.

Khamenei had reportedly suffered severe injuries in a strike on February 28, which claimed the lives of his father and predecessor, Ali Khamenei. Basij Organisation deputy Qasem Qoraishi stated that footage and documentation showing Khamenei in public, out in the streets, and in meetings with armed forces commanders would be released in the future.
