Lawyers for Animal Rights have called for a police inquiry into a disturbing incident where a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle repeatedly ran over two puppies in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. Rajesh Nagarajan from Lawyers for Animal Rights stated that a white Mitsubishi Triton was first seen running over the puppies as it entered a parking lot, before reversing and running them over a second time, causing their deaths.

He emphasized that the incident cannot be considered an accident or a mere mishap. What makes this case particularly concerning is that the vehicle not only ran over the animals once but did so a second time, according to the statement, adding that a police report has been filed at Lukut Police Station. Rajesh urged for the case to be investigated under Section 29(1)(a) and 29(1)(e) of the Animal Welfare Act, which include cruel treatment of animals and causing unnecessary suffering or injury.

He stated that authorities must obtain the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area before it is destroyed, along with forensic veterinary reports to identify the cause of death for the unfortunate puppy. FMT is seeking further clarification from the police on the matter.
