Now Terengganu Bersatu No 2 quits post

Terengganu deputy speaker Khazan Che Mat has stepped down from his role as the deputy chairman of Besut administration, aligning with Razali Idris who recently resigned as the chief of the party's state chapter. Seberang Takir assemblyman Khazan announced his decision to resign, with his resignation letter to be submitted to the state leadership committee within the next week, as reported by Utusan Malaysia.

He expressed that he did not seek the position and had joined Bersatu in 2016 upon invitation from Razali. Khazan criticized the Bersatu leadership for the lag in filling vacant Besut and Hulu Terengganu division chief positions. Razali, the former chairman, also announced his resignation on Friday without specifying the reason behind his decision.

It is anticipated that Razali will also relinquish his role as Marang Bersatu chief in mid-September. Telemong assemblyman Zawawi Ismail and Hulu Besut assemblyman Husaimi Hussin have similarly announced their resignations as information chief and treasurer of Terengganu Bersatu, respectively. This latest round of resignations adds to the mounting turmoil within Bersatu, which has already seen several other senior members step down following the expulsion of former deputy president Hamzah Zainudin in February. Hamzah has since founded Wawasan, a political entity that joined Perikatan Nasional in July.
