No injuries as fire breaks out at Aramco facility in Jazan

Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for targeting an Aramco refinery in Jazan, Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, after the kingdom reported extinguishing a fire at the site. Military spokesman Yahya Saree stated the attack was carried out via drone, responding to drone incursions by the Gulf kingdom into northwest Yemen. The truce in Yemen's civil war has been broken recently, with fighting between regional allies of the United States and Iran escalating.

Later, Houthi forces also attacked pro-government forces and installations near Mokha, a Red Sea coastal city in Yemen, with missiles and drones, though no reported casualties among Gulf military personnel. Residents in Mokha reported hearing blasts from drones and air defenses. Saudi Arabia's energy ministry confirmed the fire at the Jazan refinery had been brought under control without injuries.

The refinery, targeting by Houthi rebels in July, processes 400,000 barrels of crude oil daily and produces refined products like gasoline and ultra-light sulfur diesel. Aramco assured quick restoration of operations, despite recent attacks causing some production interruptions. The Houthis control significant regions in Yemen, including Sanaa and areas near Saudi Arabia's Red Sea provinces.

This threat, combined with Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, highlights the ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington in the Middle East.
