NCSA issues warning against fraudulent travel offer links on WhatsApp

Doha, Qatar - The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) warned Qataris and residents against clicking on unsolicited travel offers shared via WhatsApp. The agency cautioned that these enticing links, promising unrealistically low prices for vacations or packages, may contain malware or lead to fraudulent websites aimed at stealing personal data.

Cybercriminals frequently exploit messaging platforms to distribute holiday deals, with activity often increasing during travel planning seasons. Clicking on these suspicious links could expose devices to dangerous malware or trick users into providing sensitive information on counterfeit booking sites. To protect themselves, the NCSA advised the public to be wary of unrealistic offers from unknown numbers and verify promotions through official company websites or accredited booking channels.

Users were also advised to refrain from entering personal details like credit card numbers on unverified sites. This advisory is part of the NCSA's ongoing commitment to promoting digital safety and resilience across the nation.
