Bersatu still in PN, says Samsuri

TAIPING: Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar asserts that Bersatu remains an active member of the coalition, despite allegations of its membership being revoked. As of today, Aug 9, Bersatu continues to hold its position within PN. Samsuri disclosed that no decisions have been taken to expel Bersatu from the coalition, and its standing has not changed thus far.

He also expressed interest in the extent of legitimacy concerns raised by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) regarding Bersatu's leadership. Presently, the focus for PN is centered on winning as many seats as possible in the upcoming Melaka election, which holds significant importance both at the state and federal levels. Consequently, there are no other matters slated for discussion at this time.

When asked about potential meetings to discuss Bersatu's status, Samsuri clarified that the primary objective for PN remains the Melaka election. Any actions taken by Bersatu, such as referring the matter to the Registrar of Societies (ROS), are permissible as long as they adhere to the law and the Constitution.

Regarding accusations of being a 'puppet', Samsuri remains uninvolved in such discussions, stating that he cannot stop others from voicing their opinions. The Pas president, Abdul Hadi Awang, claimed that Bersatu's membership in PN was automatically revoked after Muhyiddin Yassin's announcement regarding the formation of a new coalition.
