NCP-SP MPs to meet Narendra Modi tomorrow; oppose FCRA Bill in present form: Supriya Sule

Working President of the NCP (SP) Supriya Sule announced on Saturday that all party MPs in the Lok Sabha will convene a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. The delegation, consisting of eight MPs from the NCP (SP), will gather at the Prime Minister's Parliament office, according to Sule, who made the announcement in Mumbai.

The agenda for the meeting will encompass a range of topics, including the ongoing water crisis, farmer suicides, and the challenges posed by rapid urbanization. Sule further explained that the MPs will also address concerns regarding the utilization of their Rs 5-crore development funds, which have been hindered by a lack of support from the state government.

Additionally, Sule revealed that her party harbors opposition to the FCRA Bill, 2026, as it stands currently. She called for either the withdrawal of the Bill or its referral to a joint committee of Parliament. Sule affirmed the party's willingness to engage in discussions about the legislation within the House, but emphasized that any decision without prior discussion and consensus would be unacceptable to them.

Sule rejected assertions that the meeting with the Prime Minister had any underlying political intent. She clarified that their meeting is specifically focused on Maharashtra-related issues, asserting that it is not a casual or informal gathering.
