Movement restricted under Section 144 in some areas of South Waziristan, Tank on Monday

In three districts of South Waziristan, administrative authorities imposed Section 144 for August 10 (Monday) due to security concerns, restricting residents' movement. This provision, under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), prohibits gatherings of four or more people in designated areas for a limited time. The deputy commissioners of Lower South Waziristan, Upper South Waziristan, and Tank districts issued notifications on Sunday, directing restrictions between 6am and 7pm.

These measures included the closure of markets and business centers, and the halting of vehicles at least 50 meters before approaching security personnel. The Lower South Waziristan administration declared a curfew in Wana tehsil, prohibiting movement on several key roads such as those connecting Wana to Dargai Bridge and Gul Kuch to Tanai.

Similarly, Upper South Waziristan authorities imposed restrictions in Sarwekai and Ladha tehsils, closing routes including those from Ladha to Nazar Khel and Dargai Bridge to Jandola. In Tank district, a curfew was enforced in Jandola subdivision, with restrictions on movement on roads connecting Kour fort to Jandola and Dabra to Gulgi Kot.

Residents were advised to stay indoors unless necessary and to obtain prior permission for emergency travel, providing relevant documents to security personnel. Authorities appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary movement and follow guidelines to ensure safety during the specified hours.
